GRUPPENAUSSTELLUNG: FrischFleisch Mit ‘FrischFleisch’ bietet WIDMER+THEODORIDIS contemporary einen ungewöhnlich breiten Einblick auf die neuesten Arbeiten von Künstlern und Gästen der Galerie. Zwanzig Künstler werden in dieser Gruppenausstellung präsentiert, für die Auswahl hatten sie freie Hand, einzige Bedingung war, dass die Arbeiten frisch sind oder sogar eigens für die Ausstellung geschaffen werden. Thematisch gab es ebenfalls keine Einschränkung. Gruppenausstellungen sind zwar für die Ausstellungsmacher ein kompliziertes Genre bieten aber dem Publikum den Vorteil, dass verschiedene Werke durch eine bestimmte Fragestellung untereinander verbunden sind. Die Künstler haben auf jeweils ganz eigene Art und Weise Aspekte des Ausstellungstitels aufgegriffen und kritisch bis humorvoll verarbeitet. Dass dabei auch die Doppeldeutigkeit des Begriffes Frischfleisch aufgriffen wurde, liegt auf der Hand. Für WIDMER+THEODORIDIS contemporary war dies zudem eine geeignete Möglichkeit in kompakter Weise ihr Ausstellungskonzept, das wesentlich von Doppel- und Mehrdeutigkeiten geleitet wird, vorzustellen. In diesem Sinne präsentiert sich ‘FrischFleisch’ als Visitenkarte der Galerie, ihrer Künstler und Gäste. Luis Amavisca, Henry Kleine, Sven Marquardt, Tino Sand und Yukiko Tereada sind zum ersten Mal Gast in der Galerie. Alle anderen Künstler waren in Einzel- oder Gruppenausstellungen schon ein- oder mehrmals zu sehen und sind vielen Besuchern bereits bekannt. Gezeigt werden: Fotografien von Erika Babatz, Sabrina Friio, Andreas Fux, Lois Hechenblaikner, Xandra Linsin, Sven Marquardt und Tino Sand. Videoarbeiten von Luis Amavisca, Ursula Groser und Werner Widmer. Textile Arbeiten von Michelle Grob, Sybille Hotz und Yukiko Terada. Rauminstallation von Bildstein | Glatz. Alle Künstler und ihre Arbeiten hier einzeln vorzustellen, würde zu weit führen. Aber in dieser Zusammenstellung ist allen eines gemeinsam: Die tiefe Auseinandersetzung mit Fleisch und seiner Körperlichkeit, Geistlichkeit und Vergänglichkeit in der menschlichen Existenz. Ihre Aufmerksamkeit konzentriert sich nicht nur auf die körperliche Oberfläche und ihrer Abbildung, sondern versucht herauszulösen, was wir wirklich sinnlich sehen. Was wir das Bild nennen und auch eigentlich zu sehen glauben, ist sehr viel mehr und sehr viel weniger als seine wirkliche Sichtbarkeit. In der Vielfalt der hier präsentierten Werke spiegelt sich die Summe dieser Wahrnehmungen in all seinen Formen. In diesem Sinne freut sich WIDMER+THEODORIDIS contemporary auch die Tänzerin Tina Wyss in ‘FrischFleisch’ zu begrüssen. Ihr Tanzstil ist eine moderne eigenwillige Neuinterpretation des traditionellen Flamencotanzes. ‘La Tina’ und Michal Abramski an der Gitarre werden an diesem Abend den Ehegraben und die Galerie in einer einzigartigen Performance bespielen. In grösserer Formation als Amber Ensemble bekannt, spielen sie eine zuvor nie realisierte Fusion von Flamenco und osteuropäischer Musik. Mit der CD ‘Ambar’ wurde das Ensemble mit einem Platz auf der Sampler-CD ‘World Music Special’ von EMI Music ausgezeichnet. www.theamberensemble.com WIDMER+THEODORIDIS contemporary offers with ‘FrischFleisch’ (fresh meat) an unusually broad insight into the newest works of gallery and guest artists. The new group show presents twenty artist that were given carte blanche to select a work on condition of being fresh or even customized for the show. No restriction was given on the theme. Group shows are a complicated genre for the creator of exhibitions. However, they do offer to the public the advantage that different works are connected by a certain interrogation. The artists have taken up in their own specific way aspects of the questioning and processed them from critical to humorous. It was obvious that they would pick-up the ambiguity of the term ‘FrischFleisch’. For WIDMER+THEODORIDIS contemporary this was a seasonable chance to present in a compact way their gallery concept that is essentially driven by the comprehension of ambiguity. Luis Amavisca, Henry Kleine, Sven Marquardt, Tino Sand and Yukiko Terada are for the first time guests of the gallery. All the other artists have already participated at least once in a solo or group show and are known to many of the visitors. To introduce all the artists and their works now would be too a big issue. But there is common ground in this constellation of artists. It’s their examination of flesh and its bodily, spirituality and perishability in the human existence. Their attention focuses not only on the physical surface and its image but tries to liberate what we really see with all our senses. What we call image and think to be seeing is actually much more and very much less than its real visibility. The manifold variety of the presented works reflects the sum of these sensations in all their forms. With this in mind WIDMER+THEODORIDIS contemporary is pleased to present also the dancer Tina Wyss in ‘FrischFleisch’. Her style of dance is a contemporary individual interpretation of the traditional flamenco dance. ‘La Tina’ and Michal Abramski on the guitar will perform their unique piece throughout the gallery and the project room ‘Ehegraben’. Being part of the well-known ‘Amber-Ensemble’ they have created a fusion of Flamenco and East-European music.
